LEGASEA COLLECTION
COMING SOON TO KICKSTARTER
Our latest collection takes inspiration from the 70's, with a modern touch. During R&D, we have aimed to make this our best design yet, using only the best materials and movement. We are not here to ''disrupt the watch market'' or ''cut out the middleman''. Our brand aim is simple - to provide premium products & service, at an affordable price.
The beating heart of the Legasea is the world renowned Miyota movement, calibre 9039. The 9039 movement is taken from miyota's premium lineup of automatic movements. Most people will recognise the 9015 movement, which is used in many premium line ups of the microbrand world. For context, the 9039 is the same as the 9015 movement, however does not have a date wheel. Compared to Miyota's other automatic movements, such as the ever popular 8 series, the 9 series features a thinner design and higher beat rate which gives the seconds hand a smoother sweep, and improved accuracy. it is a lot of times compared to the Swiss counterpart, specifically the ETA 2824/SW200. Specs wise, the 9039 features hacking, which allows you to pull the crown which will stop the seconds hand, a beat frequency of 28,800 per hour and 24 Jewels.
The case is crafted in top of the range 316L Stainless Steel, and a brushed finish. The case size is 40mm. From the crown it measures in at 43mm. the lug to lug is 45mm. The thickness of the watch from the glass to the caseback is 11mm. The back of the watch is secured with an engraved stainless steel screw down caseback. The watch weighs in at just over 67g (excluding strap). The watch has a WR rating of 300m.
We put a lot of time and effort in deciding which bezel option would suit the Legasea best. there are multiple popular options such as the ceramic bezel, or a stainless steel bezel. however, in the end we decided to go for a uni-directional sapphire bezel. Although a sapphire bezel costs more to produce, it also means greater scratch resistance when compared to a stainless steel bezel. In terms of lume protection, the sapphire bezel is also superior compared to a ceramic bezel. A ceramic bezel leaves the lume exposed to elements, and is prone to scratches, or in some cases even falling off in time. The sapphire bezel however protects the lume beneath the bezel, which will protect the longetivity of the lume, whilst also not compromising on the quality. The dial is also protected by a sapphire glass, with anti-reflective coating applied on the inside. The water resistance is tested at 300m/1000ft.
the Lume is powered by multiple layers of Swiss Super-LumiNova, BGW9.
The mesh strap will come included as default with your Legasea. The solid steel option is available as an optional extra, or why not have both! Both bands will come with quick release pins to allow you to change your look easily and conveniently within seconds. The lugs are also drilled, giving ease of access when using your own bands which have spring pins.
If we meet certain stretch goals, customers will have the option of two further dial/bezel variants, allowing opportunity to select which option they would like at the end of a successful campaign (fingers crossed). There will also be 3 colour options for the seconds hand marker (refer to above image).
The Marc Ocean brand was launched in 2019. At the heart of our aim when launching this brand was to give back to less fortunate people. Thats why we have collaborated with Action Welfare, (ActionWelfare.org.uk) and donate 10% of profits to them.
